We live 20 miles south west of Edinburgh and are ideally situated for central and southern Scotland. It is also possible to travel to the highlands in 2 to 3 hours. There is so much to do in Scotland, something for everyone: culture, museums, arts, golf, fishing, shopping, historic sites, gardens, eating out, fantastic scenery, walking, climbing and lots for children to do. The list is endless.

Our family are Mark (37), Rona (38), Ben (13), Jamie (11) and Daniel (6). Mark runs the family Electrical and Plumbing contractor business. Rona works in a specialist plant nursery near Edinburgh and also does garden design. Ben and Jamie are mad about Lego, trains, planes and automobiles, game boy and Harry Potter. Daniel loves tractors and lorries.

Our home was designed and built by ourselves in 2000, and sits on 2 acres of garden and woodland. We have lovely views of the Pentland hills, sunrise and sunset. We are surrounded by farmland, our nearest neighbors are ½ mile away and we are 6 miles from the nearest town, so a car is necessary. We are happy to do a car exchange.

We have 5 bedrooms and can sleep 10 people. Upstairs there is the master bedroom with super king size bed and ensuit shower room, 2 children’s rooms with bunk beds (one with double bottom bunk) and a single Childs room, main bathroom with roll top bath in the bay window (have a bath and watch the sun set with a glass of wine!!!). Downstairs there is a double bedroom with ensuit shower room, large lounge with views of hills, TV, stereo, DVD, etc. also cloakroom toilet, study, utility room (wash machine, tumble drier, freezer, fridge, sink etc), Playroom with lots of toys and games, TV, video, computer for games, table football. The Kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave etc and opens out onto the sunroom where we sit to eat, socialise, kids play, etc. From here you can walk out onto the decking and patio to sit and enjoy the garden and views.

We also have our dog Sam (he goes to relatives when we exchange) who is a black Labrador and a big softy. We have two cats poppy and milly. Three hebredean sheep, and last but not least are our 19 hens. They will give you lots of lovely eggs to use and the children love to feed them and collect the eggs. They live in a run in an enclosure in the wild bit of the garden. We would be pleased to exchange pet care.

The garden is a work in progress. The area surrounding the house, fruit and vegetable garden and kids garden are all complete. There are walks around our wood, wee bridges and bog gardens, lots of birds, tree swings, old tree stumps to play on. In the play hut there are lots of bikes and out door toys, plus swings and a climbing frame will tire them all out (hopefully!!!)  

We can provide baby equipment (cot, pushchair, highchair, car seat, etc) if required.
